WHO IS (BCMES)
The Bridge Center for Middle Eastern Studies (BCMES) is a leading research institution dedicated to providing European policy makers an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Middle East. Our focus is on research and critical analysis of the unique political landscapes, complex security environments, economic climates, and social complexities across the ME to better enable EU foreign policy makers and politicians the insight needed to forward strategic policies that directly affect one of the most important and strategic regions for European politics, security and economy.
BCMES fosters a collaborative research environment, partnering with the European Commission and esteemed European institutions such as, Clingendael, the EULAC Foundation and the Hague Centre for Strategic Studies (HCSS). These partnerships enable global outreach and facilitate the exchange of ideas, promote interdisciplinary research, and enhance the impact of European policy on a global scale.
BCMES’ primary customer is the European External Action Service within the European Commission, aiding forening policy makers forge lasting policy structures. BCMES also collaborates with leading European universities and research institutions, including Clingendael, the European Commission, the EULAC Foundation, and the Hague Centre for Strategic Studies (HCSS).

BCMES prides itself on providing timely, intimate, hyper-localised in-depth insights on current ME affairs that affect European strategic interests.
Syria
BCMES is currently on the ground in Syria, providing unique insight and local perspectives to the changing and unfolding political, security, and human rights environments following the fall of the Assad regime and meteoric rise of Ahmad al-Sharaa.
Palestine
Since the end of 2023, Gaza has experienced an extreme and brutal war leading to more than 60 thousand deaths, mostly women and children. With famine conditions in Gaza and ongoing settler violence in the Occupies West Bank, EU political pressure is key in forwarding the dream of Palestinian statehood.
Afghanistan
Since the US pullout in 2021, the security environment and human rights situation has drastically degraded directly affecting European national security creating the possibility of civil war, the fomenting of terror infrastructure and potential mass migration.
Lebanon
Lebanon is undergoing dramatic changes to its political, security and economic DNA, providing opportunities for European Investment and greater security cooperation.
